Hello! I'm Evan, a writer and reporter based in Los Angeles. As The Hollywood Reporter's Culture Writer, I cover arts and entertainment news, trends, and events for the print magazine and website. I also profile the people and businesses adding unique color and texture to the city.
Previously, I was a reporting fellow at The New York Times, where I wrote enterprise stories covering the 2020 presidential election on the Politics desk, and fashion / art / trend stories for Styles. Before that, I covered architecture and design for Fast Company's Co.Design vertical.
I've written about the scientific creation of a new shade of blue, how direct-to-consumer catalogs of the 90s forecasted a future of e-commerce shopping, UPN's golden decade of Black television, Rihanna's favorite restaurant, and the political architecture in South Korean thriller 'Parasite.'
My writing has appeared in Architectural Digest, Atlas Obscura, Gothamist, The Slowdown, and T Magazine, among other publications. Freelance work includes editing creative nonfiction writing for Guernica literary magazine, writing an illustrated children's book for Benchmark Education about The Great Migration, and copywriting and editing for brands and newsletters.
